Student Alliance for Integrative Medicine (SAIM)

The mission of the Integrative Medicine Newsletter is to foster collaboration among the students of NCNM, OCOM, OHSU, and UWS in order to deepen awareness of the contribution of all medical systems in order to promote health and optimize patient care.
Newsletter submissions offering commentary on the topic of choice will help keep this community informed and deepen the understanding of the benefits of the various different approaches to medicine that are available to be utilized. Interested in being published in the Integrative Medicine quarterly newsletter? We would love to include your original article. Below are some guidelines to follow when working on your article submission.
Article Submission Checklist:
- Submit brief synopsis/outline
- Upon approval write article
- After content is written please edit to ensure that guidelines attached have been followed (Submission guidelines must be met in order to be a candidate for publication)
- Submit final article to saim.im.newsletter@gmail.com
To Include:
When submitting your article proposal and final draft via email the following information MUST be included.
- Full Name
- Contact Email
- School and year in school
- Proposed Article Topic (please keep outline to a few sentences)
- Proposed Title
** In the subject line of your email please indicate what school you represent
Content:
- It is the responsibility of the contributor to assure that all material is appropriate for printing and that proper authorization has been obtained prior to submitting it.
- The material submitted must be professional and appropriate for the target audience. For the best impact articles should be educational, not self-promotional. Please ensure that the article does not speak adversely toward another person, professional, provider, philosophy or position.
- When composing your article please keep our intended audience in mind: Medical students and professionals from OHSU, OCOM, NCNM, WSU
- IM Newsletter reserves the right to edit any article. Substantive editorial changes made will be reported to the contributor to the best ability of IM Newsletter’s ability. Should the contributor not be available, then IM Newsletter reserves the right to publish the article as submitted, edit the article or not print the article at all.
- Please keep in mind that our content policies play an important role in maintaining a positive and educational experience for those who read our newsletter. Please respect these guidelines. We may change our content policies for the betterment of the newsletter and we will notify authors of any changes made. SAIM Integrative Medicine Newsletter maintains the position that the views and information presented in our newsletter, are linked to be those of the authors, and not necessarily those of SAIM or any of the schools of OCIM.
Formatting
- Please submit plain text without formatting in a word document or similar compatible document.
- Use no formatting other than the italicization of scientific names. That is, do not use bold, underline, font changes, font size changes, font colors, all caps, centering, styles, page numbers, headers, margin adjustments, tabs, line spacing, paragraph indents, columns, or any other formatting.
- Break up the text using subheads to categorize topics.
- Use one space between sentences
- Indent new paragraphs
- Length for entry submission is 800-2000 words
Language, Grammar, Spelling
- Please use language appropriate for an audience of both medical students and medical professionals.
- Check then re-check your article to ensure proper spelling and grammar
Citations
- Include citations and copyright permissions for other's work. Use a person's full in the first reference and last name in subsequent references.
